The Annual Orlando Chili Cook-Off is a family fun event held at Festival Park in Orlando, FL. This year’s 8th annual cook-off was sponsored by Northwestern Mutual of Greater Orlando to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Cook-off participants provide 1-ounce samples of their chili. Over 50 cooks entered the chili cook-off.
Ticket price ranges from $5 to $25. The event is rain or shine from 12 pm to 6 pm. The cook-off competition is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). There are 5 categories for participants to compete: CASI, Restaurant, Open, Open Show, and Vegetarian. The CASI winner advances to the National and World Chili competitions. There is also a category for People’s Choice. Each person receives a gold coin as they enter the event, each coin equals one vote, and the booth with the most coins wins People’s Choice.
